Herbert Brewer

Herbert Brewer is a historian of the Atlantic World and in particular, eighteenth and nineteenth century African American life and culture. He has taught in the Washington DC Public Schools, at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and at Morgan State University in Baltimore. His work has appeared in a variety of publications, and he is a co-author of the recently published Guide to the History of Slavery in Maryland. He received his B.A. and his M.A. in history from the University of Maryland at College Park, where he is currently completing a doctoral dissertation. His research focuses on the African American Diaspora in the Atlantic World. Herbert and his wife Erica Rapier live in Washington DC.
