Worldwise: The Arts and Humanities in the 21st Century
Worldwise is an initiative of the College of Arts and Humanities. It presents a series moderated roundtable conversations on the value of the arts and humanities in a global era:  WORLDWISE grew from the College’s sense that the time was right to begin setting priorities for the future of the arts and humanities on our campus with an open, engaged, wide-ranging and creative exploration of what we do and how it matters in the broadest sense.  The intention is to identify and articulate the important role to be played by the arts and humanities in shaping our global future. The aim is also to deepen existing partnerships and open new ones: between the College of Arts and Humanities and other units on campus, particularly the sciences and engineering; between the faculty and students and the College alumni; between the College of Arts and Humanities and our state legislators; and between the College and extra-mural organizations, particularly the Maryland Humanities Council, the NEH and the NSF.

The Center for Teaching Excellence
The University of Maryland's Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) is an initiative of the Office of the Associate Provost and Dean for Undergraduate Studies. The Center for Teaching Excellence supports departments, faculty, and graduate students by offering resources and assistance as part of a campus-wide effort to improve teaching and learning. Many great link and programs available for faculty and graduate students.

Undergraduate Technology Apprenticeship Program
The College of Art and Humanities in collaboration with the College of Chemical and Life Sciences and the Office of Information Technology is offering a credited technology training course fall semester. Students who complete this course will then be paired with faculty for a paid apprenticeship in the following semester. A UTAP student might assist faculty by developing web materials, creating Powerpoint presentations, facilitating electronic discussions or providing on-site assistance during the instructor's class.

ELMS
ELMS (Enterprise Learning Management System) is a course management system (CMS) that includes a set of web-based integrated tools to support a variety of educational and administrative aspects of a course. ELMS spaces are available upon request for UMCP instructors and staff.

University-wide Office of Information Technology for Faculty
The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is strongly committed to helping faculty use information technology to enhance research and instruction; communicate with students, colleagues, administrators, and others; and support other academic and administrative activities. Academic Technology Coordinators (ATCs) are discipline-oriented consultants who promote academic use of technology and services; serve as a liaison between the college, OIT, and other campus technology units; and provide personal assistance to faculty members. They may also be able to put you in contact with other campus faculty members who are using technology in ways that are of interest to you.

University-wide Office of Information Technology for Students
Whether registering for classes, accessing library or other sources of information, consulting online course syllabi, submitting a transcript request, or just checking the latest dining hall menu online, you will find that technology is integrated into nearly every facet of university life. You will need to, you will want to, and you will use computers and other IT resources throughout your university life.
